The leaders and members of the nine electoral district committees in Sharjah were convened by the Supreme Committee for the Consultative Council Elections in Sharjah. The purpose of the meeting was to provide support for the crucial phase of the Consultative Council elections, specifically the registration of candidates. The meeting took place this morning at the Consultative Council headquarters in Sharjah. During the meeting, the second phase of the elections was introduced, which included the procedures for candidate registration and the election criteria. A comprehensive explanation of the workflow and the necessary rules was provided to ensure adherence. Notable attendees at the meeting included Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Asma Rashid Sultan bin Taliah, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah; Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC); and Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Digital Office. The Management Committee members also addressed the general requirements for candidacy, specific conditions for different categories, and matters pertaining to campaign activities and their approval.In his opening remarks, Ahmed Saeed Al Jarawan, the Chairman of the Election Management Committee, highlighted the importance of the meeting in ensuring the success of the Consultative Council elections in Sharjah. He emphasized the collective efforts to provide optimal services and conditions for voters and candidates, particularly focusing on the preparations for the second phase of the elections. This phase involves the registration of candidates who truly represent the aspirations and ambitions of the people.
Sharjah Elections Cmte Supports Candidate Registration Phase
The meeting then centered on the candidate registration process and the requirements for Consultative Council membership. The registration period will commence on the upcoming Tuesday, the 31st of October, and will span three consecutive days at the electoral district offices in the nine municipalities of Sharjah. Candidates are required to pay a registration fee of AED3,000, in addition to the financial collection system fees, resulting in a total cost of AED3,061.4.
